Carolyn Joan Morgan Griffith

Carolyn Joan (Morgan) Griffith, 69, of Lufkin, was born April 7, 1942 in Borger, Texas, the daughter of the late Mildred (Stroud) and Floyd Rex Morgan. She passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 in a local hospice facility.

Carolyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She fought a gallant battle against multiple myeloma for 11 years and dealt with kidney failure for 5 years. She was a beautiful person and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Gerry Griffith of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Nealy and Frank Cook of Crockett; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Lynn and Shannan Griffith and Cary Lee and Amanda Griffith, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Cassidy Cook, Carson Cook, Justin Griffith and Hunter Griffith; brother, Charles Lynn Morgan of Lufkin; and a number of other family members.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Floyd Lee Morgan.

Memorial contributions in Carolyn's memory may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904; or to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

Services for Carolyn will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Philip Snead officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday at Gipson Funeral Home.
