Charlcie Eugene Newburn, 92, of Lufkin, the daughter of the late Grace (Sanford) Reynolds and Walter Eugene Reynolds, was born in Choice, Texas, April 20, 1930. She passed away on February 27, 2023 in a local hospital.
Charlcie Newburn was a registered nurse and graduated in 1950 from Lilly Jolly School of Nursing of Memorial Houston; serving in Houston, Victoria, Freeport and Lufkin, Texas. She retired from the Lufkin State Supported Living Center, as a Director of Nurses in 1992
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Lufkin. She and her loving husband, Daniel McLain Newburn, moved from Freeport to Wells, Texas in 1971 and opened a grocery store, as well as a cafe named, "King of the Roost." They shared countless loving memories with their 3 daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Charlcie and Daniel loved traveling with their Good Sams Club and eating at just about any restaurant they came across. They were always eager to make new friends and found friendships in just about anyone they would meet. Charlcie was strong in faith and brought that strength through to generations of her family. Therefore, all of her descendants received what we like to call, "B & D," a bound and determined steadfast attitude toward life.
