

Cheryl was a proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, where she earned her degree in education. She spent many years of her life as a dedicated teacher, touching the lives of countless students before retiring. Her passion for teaching and her love for her family were at the center of her life.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, James Lamont, and her son, John Richard O'Connor. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jad O'Connor and Jacquilyn (O'Connor) Sanders and her husband Donald Lynn Sanders, Jr., and her great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Marie Sanders. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Case, and his wife Patty, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Gipson Funeral Home. A Rosary will follow at 1:00 PM, and a Celebration of Cheryl's Life officiated by Deacon Gary Trevino of St. Patrick's Catholic Church will begin at 2:00 PM.
In honoring her life, the family asks that those who knew Cheryl reflect on the kindness, love, and joy she brought to so many. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
