

Services for Coleman Ray Standley, 78, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Cindy Doran officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Apple Springs.
Mr. Standley was born February 5, 1938 in Trinity County, Texas, the son of the late Opal (Young) and William Myrth Standley. He passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016.
Mr. Standley was a 1956 graduate of Centerville High School. After serving in the Army, he joined the family business, The Standley Egg Farm, until the early 1980s. Subsequently, he served as the Chief Deputy County Clerk for Tarrant county until his retirement. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren do things in which they were involved. He enjoyed dancing, and was a member of Lufkin Dance Club and SPJST. He was a member of Keltys United Methodist Church, where he was a greeter and was involved in other church activities. He worked with the Boy Scouts and was a founding member of the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Standley loved life and did more for others than for himself.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Standley of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Cole and Jill Standley of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Stephen Rhoades of Lufkin and SueAnna and Brad Thomas of Dripping Springs; stepchildren, Brian McWhirter and Terri Norris; grandchildren, Daniel Rhoades, Emily Rhoades, Rob Thomas, Nicholas Standley, Kimberly Standley and Christine Pham; step-grandchildren, Chelsea Norris, Brittany Williams, and Brendan McWhirter; great-grandchildren, Taylor Ven, Leela Henson and Brantley Yoakum; and a number of other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Standley was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Marsha Standley; and brother, J. O. Standley.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Stringer, Larry Turner, Allen Lehr, Randy Deal, Stephen Rhoades, and Brad Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
