DeLois "Loisie" (Johnson) Teer

DeLois (Johnson) Teer, 80, of Lufkin, was born October 6, 1931 in Lufkin, the daughter of the late Edna Mae (Carpenter) and Calvin Lafayette "Fate" Johnson. She passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Teer lived her lifetime in Lufkin. Loisie graduated from Lufkin High School and then attended the Juilliard School at the Conservatory of Music in St. Louis, Missouri. She went on to Stephen F. Austin State University and obtained her Bachelor and then her Master's Degree in Music. Her working career was spent in music. She was the Music Coordinator for all the Lufkin Public Schools and then taught private music lessons as well. She retired from LISD in 1992 after 22 years of service.

Mrs. Teer was a beloved wife, a very good mother and grandmother, great mother-in-law, and sweet sister. She never said an unkind word, was always willing to help others, and was truly a born server. She and her husband worked with Providence Baptist Church for about 10 years, where she served as the organist. She was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church and the Grace Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband, Ivis Teer of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Terry Teer of Huntsville; daughter and son-in-law, Lori Len and Kerry White of Lufkin; grandchildren, Brooke White of Lufkin and Robert Teer of Moorings Port, Louisiana; sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Tommy McDaniel of Longview; and nieces, Leslie Shrader and husband John III of Denton and Jan Fulton and husband Tommy Jr. of Hallsville.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Teer was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Crystal Len White; brother, Cary Justin Johnson; and nephew, Scott McDaniel.

Pallbearers will be mark Thompson, Joe Glass, Roscoe Ivy, Dr. Robert I. Garrett, Buford Abeldt, Karl Bozeman and Jim Myers.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Murray Sunday School Class of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.

Contributions in Mrs. Teer's memory may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1514 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904; or to Lufkin's First Baptist Church, 106 W. Bremond, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

Services for Mrs. Teer will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 in the Sanctuary of Lufkin's First Baptist Church with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
