Edna Roberts Kirkland

Services for Edna Roberts Kirkland, 93, of Longview, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Randy Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.

Mrs. Kirkland was born June 4, 1919 in Saskatoon, Canada, the daughter of the late Ellen (McNabb) and Hugh Walter Guernsey. She passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 in a Longview nursing facility.

Mrs. Kirkland was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved working with the flowers in her yard, and was a wonderful cook. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she worked in the daycare for a number of years. She enjoyed playing dominoes and was very active in the Lufkin Senior Citizen Center.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Louise and Roger Moore of Westford, Massachusetts; son, Billy Eugene Roberts of The Philippines; stepchildren, David and Barbara Kirkland of Lufkin and Betty and Alan Upchurch of Plano; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Wiley Horton of Lockhart; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kirkland was preceded in death by her husbands, Eddie Roberts in 1975 and Elvin Kirkland in 1989; sister, Margaret A. Smith; and brother, James Guernsey.

The family will receive friends from noon until service time on Friday at Gipson Funeral Home.
