

Services for Edwin F. Broomfield, 81, of Jasper, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Matthew Broomfield will offer the Eulogy. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Broomfield was born May 3, 1933 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Maxie (Murphey) and Hiram F. Broomfield. He passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at his residence
When he was younger, Mr. Broomfield enjoyed fishing, and in later years, he enjoyed being with his dogs Bubba (Jack Russell) and Jack (Heinz 57). He worked as the manager of the commissary for the Cellar Door Restaurants. After retirement in 1995, he relocated from Houston to Jasper. Mr. Broomfield proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was honorably discharged in 1961, ranked as SP4. He was a member of Redland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Jennie and Bill Burke of Richmond, Kathy Nevins of Round Rock, and Edwina and Randy Harlan of Houston; son, Jimmy Broomfield; grandson and his spouse, Kyle and Jenna Burke; grandson and his fiancée, Kevin Burke and Kara Denney; granddaughter, Kristen Burke; grandson and his spouse, Matthew and Sarah Broomfield; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Bobby Cates of Lufkin, and Mary Frances and Carl Ray Heaton of Allentown; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Broomfield was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Graham Broomfield; and brother, Roy Lee Broomfield.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Burke, Matthew Broomfield, Jennifer Heaton, Randy Harlan, Bobby Cates and Bill Burke.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
