Services for Elizabeth (McPherson) Blanton, 74, of Diboll, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Sevar officiating. Interment will follow in the Lower Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, Texas.
Mrs. Blanton was born January 17, 1939 in Oakdale, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Lois (Jordan) and Robert McPherson. She passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at Trinity Missions of Diboll, where she resided.
Mrs. Elizabeth was a hard worker throughout her life. She and her husband, E. L., lived on a farm and operated a stable where they bred, raised, and trained Tennessee Walkers and miniature horses. Elizabeth had a weakness for all of the "runts", so she nourished and cared for them, giving them a chance at life. Above all, she loved horses and enjoyed many trail rides. With Easter being her favorite time of the year, and the fact that she was a wonderful cook, many memories of delicious meals linger in her family's minds. She was a long-time active member of Nacogdoches Calvary Baptist Church. She had worked as a bottler for Coca-Cola, as a security guard for Valmac, and retired from Holiday Inn, where she worked in Housekeeping. She enjoyed watching westerns - especially "Gunsomke."
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Cam McPherson of Nacogdoches; step-daughter, Diane Lovett of Huntington; grandchildren, Teresa Erbey and husband Doug of Etoile and Charles Lovett and wife Angie of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Christopher Battles, Casey Erbey, Destiny Lovett, Justin Lovett, Candace Nichols and Misty Stauffer; great-great-grandchildren, William (Hunter) Battles, Makenzie Battles and Makayla Nichols; two brothers, Robert McPherson and wife Hilda of Lake Charles, Louisiana and William B. R. of Sweet Lake, Louisiana, Margie Beaver and husband Leon of Leesville, Louisiana and Rita Meadows and husband Clarence of Crosby, Texas; special nieces and nephew, Tina Cox and Tasha and Joshua Cox; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blanton was preceded in death by her husband, E. L. Blanton; sister, Sybil McPherson; and great-grandson, William Ray Lovett.
