

Services for Evelyn Perry Clarke, 95, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Reverend Grant Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Clarke was born August 21, 1919 in Palacios, Texas, the daughter of the late Irene (Welch) and Fred Reinke. She passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Clarke was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother as well as a wonderful homemaker. She graduated from Laredo High School and attended UT-Austin. She met her husband, Bruce Perry, and married him in 1940. This marriage lasted until his death in 1977. She married Jim Clarke in 1980. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, playing golf, was an avid reader, and loved working crossword puzzles. She read the Wall Street Journal every day and traveled all over the United States and abroad. Mrs. Clarke was a long-time member of Lufkin’s First United Methodist Church. “Full of life and just never stopped.”
Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Noble of Dallas; son, Tony Perry of Brenham; 4 grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Valerie and Don Myer of New Braunfels.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clarke was preceded in death by her husbands, Bruce Perry and Jim Clarke; and brother, Fred Renkie, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel.
