

Mrs. Slover was born May 1, 1924 in Brenham, Texas, the only child of Helen and Bruno Kopycinski. She passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 in a Houston nursing facility.
After graduating from Brenham High School, her family moved to Lufkin. She attended her first year of college at University of Texas, Austin, and then completed her degree in Elementary Education at Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) sorority.
She married an Aggie from Lufkin, Charles Slover. They lived in College Station while he finished his Mechanical Engineering degree, following his service in World War II. They later settled in Fort Worth, where their two children were born.
Charles’ work took them to Houston for many years and Weimar after that. Upon his retirement, they moved back to Lufkin to be near their families.
She is a lifelong Catholic, loves to sing, plays piano by ear and is an excellent bridge player. At Autumn Leaves you may see her visiting with her son and daughter-in-law, her daughter, friends, grandkids, great grandkids and one little white grand-dog!
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Sharon Slover; daughter, Barbara Slover Sims; grandchildren, Brad Sims, Kyle Sims and Mary Anglin; great-grandchildren, Trevor G. Anglin and Megan Anglin; and a number of other family members.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brad Sims and Kyle Sims; great-grandson, Trevor G. Anglin; nephews, Charlie Poland, Robert Poland, Leonard Kinnaird, Jack Kinnaird, and Don Prendergast; great-nephew, Robert Prendergast; and family friend, Gerry Berard.
