

Frances was born December 29, 1924 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Francis (Frank) Marion Dugan and Minnie Jewel Shaw Dugan. She graduated from Pine Tree High School in Greggton. She played clarinet in the band and received a scholarship to Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. After studying business, she moved to Dallas and worked at Ling Timco Vaught and the VA hospital, where she met John H D Sharp. They married November 1945. Frances was a stay-at-home mother involved with school, church, and sports activities for four children. She went back to work full-time in 1963 and retired from Social Security as a Service Representative with 21 years of service. She received several awards and accommodations for excellence during her years at Social Security. She was a member and officer of the Carousel Round Dance Club and a member of First Christian Church in Lufkin.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Sharp Felty and husband Hal of Waco; sons, David D Sharp and wife Cathy of Bellaire and Don D Sharp and wife Julie of Hewitt; 8 grandchildren, Amy Griffin and husband George of Spring, Alan Felty of McKinney, Bryan Sharp of Bellaire, Andrew Sharp of Bellaire, Philip Story of Baltimore, Maryland, Lori Maxfield of China Spring, Mallory Sharp of Hewitt and Alicia Sharp of Waco; and great-grandchildren, David and Brandon Griffin, Zachary and A. J. Felty and Wrangler Maxfield.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, John H D Sharp; her second daughter, Deborah Lynn Sharp Jernigan; brother, Francis (Bobba) M. Dugan, Jr.; and sister, Margie Nell Dugan Burns.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to an animal rescue shelter of your choice or to First Christian Church, 1300 S. First Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
Services for Frances will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Rev. Stephen Lantis and Mr. Jim Riggs of First Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends and family from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel.
