Gene A Sheddan

Gene A. Sheddan, 78, of Lufkin, was born January 2, 1934 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Hazel (Beckcom) and Joseph Basil (J.B.) Sheddan. He passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 in a local nursing facility.

Mr. Sheddan was retired from Temple Associates where he was a pipe superintendent. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching rodeos, listening to country music, and gardening. He served in the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ybarbo Sheddan of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Jean "Cookie" and Chuck Branton of Farmerville, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Charlotte Sheddan of Lufkin; son, Mike Sheddan of Lufkin; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Eugene Rusch of Huntington; stepson and daughter-in-law, Billy and Carrie Raines of Lufkin; brother, Vernon Brown of Central; grandchildren, Clint Branton, Clay Branton, Joe Sheddan Jr., Jaclyn Sheddan Hutson, Shane Brimer, Summer Sheddan Valadez, Michael Sheddan II, Robert Pustka, Christina Pustka Sanders, Melissa Raines Horton, Wesley Raines, Amanda Raines Dowdy and Timothy Raines; and a number of great-grandchildren and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sheddan was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph E. Sheddan and Carl Ray Sheddan.

Pallbearers will be Robert Pustka, Wesley Raines, Joe Sheddan Jr., Clint Branton, Clay Branton, and Fernando Valadez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Sheddan II, Timothy Raines and Shane Brimer.

Services for Mr. Sheddan will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Horace Fletcher and Bro. Jeremy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Homer Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
