

Services for Hugh C. Tims, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015, in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin, Texas with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating, with interment following the service. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time.
Mr. Tims was born August 26, 1937 in Augusta, Texas, the son of the late Georgia (Williams) and Hugh C. Tims, Sr. He passed away on Thursday evening, March 5, 2015, in Georgetown, South Carolina.
After serving for eight years in the United States Navy, he had a career as a maintenance manager with wood product companies building and repairing various plants before retiring from International Paper in 2002. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting, boating and golfing but in his later years, he became interested in genealogy and computers. He especially enjoyed his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Barbara Carter Tims; two sons, Cole Tims of Salt Lake City, Utah and Carter Tims (Susan) of Ninety Six, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Nikki Wald, Shane Gibbs, Melissa Tims and Andrew Tims; five great-grandchildren, Carsen Gibbs, Preston Gibbs, Blythe Wald, Kayley-Vines Tims, and Kennedy Tims; two sisters, Dorothy Weisinger (Junious) of Diboll, Texas, Betty Hamby (Bob) of Bentonville, Arkansas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.
