

Services for Irene Brown Conner, 92, of Huntington, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Nathan Pannell officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto.
Mrs. Conner was born July 19, 1924 in Alto, Texas, the daughter of the late Florience (Markcom) and Sebrine Augusta Self. She passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in a Huntington nursing facility.
Mrs. Conner was a loving mother and grandmother. She was retired from the Lufkin State School. She enjoyed shopping and just driving around. She was a member of Redtown Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Sandra Brown of Lufkin; daughter, Jannie Herman of Wells; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kim Brown of Polk County; daughter, Carolyn Williams of Huntington; grandchildren, Robbie Brown, Gerald Davis, Rhonda Green, Tammy Keely, Tessa McNeely, Kevin Herman, Bryan Herman, Jennifer Smith, Kevin Cromeans, Ben Wolf, Jason Ennis, Taylor Jordan, Philip Jordan, Latisha Bevins, and Kellie Allen; numerous great-grandchildren and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Edward Brown in 1988; son-in-law, Billy Herman; great-grandson, Jessie Franklin Bray; and her brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Brown, Wesley McNeely, Kevin Cromeans, Philip Jordan, Delman Green, Gerald Davis, and Taylor Jordan.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
