James Elsworth Boykin, 92, of Zavalla, was born February 28, 1933 in Zavalla, TX son of the late Sadie L. (Windon) and Henry Boykin. He passed away at the Huntington Healthcare and Rehabilitation on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
James was a skilled mechanic who took great pride in working on cars. He lived in California and Alaska and was known for his love of storytelling, often sharing family history with anyone who would listen. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and had a special fondness for good food—especially a perfectly cooked steak. James never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome.
Survivors include his daughter, Shawanna Boykin of Las Vegas; grandchildren, DeJorian Boykin and ShaTevia Boykin; great-grandchildren, DeJorian Jayden Chestly, Nataijah Houston, Emani Boykin Isaac, Jamari Boykin Isaac, Pure Blessing Boykin, Aking Boykin, SauJori Major Green; brother, Albert and Dixie Boykin; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, J.B. Boykin, Janie P. Long, Leo Boykin, Barbara J. Hughes, and Henry Boykin II.
