Jean Abbott

Services for Jean Abbott, 84, of Huntington, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lamar Denby and Michael Russell officiating. Interment will follow in Huntington Cemetery.

Mrs. Abbott was born January 4, 1932 in Huntington, Texas, the daughter of the late Vera (Fancher) Hayes McGaughey and R. B. “Buster” Hayes. She passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at her residence.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a long time member of Highway Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Abbott retired from LCTX after 40 years of service as an office manager. She had earned an Associate of Arts in Business degree.

Survivors include her sister, Deanna Thomas; daughter, Amanda Ridgeway and husband Don; sons, Bob Brockett and wife Tina and James Abbott and Paula Pennell, all of Huntington; son, Stephen Abbott and wife Ana Mijares of Diboll; grandchildren, Leslie, Stacy, Brandy, Jade, Jordan, Jacob and Caleb; numerous great-grandchildren; and a number of other family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margie Russell; aunts, Mim and Ellen Hayes; and special pet, Nikki.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
