Jessie Mae Allen Ruby

Services for Jessie Mae (Allen) Ruby, 88, of Wells, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at Falvey Memorial United Methodist Church in Wells, with Bro. David Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in the Thompson Cemetery in Forest, Texas.

Mrs. Ruby was born September 9, 1926 in Smackover, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Ima (Durham) and Claude Albert Allen. She passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Ruby was a practicing LVN until she retired. She was a member of Falvey Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Her greatest legacy was her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mom loved everyone and everyone loved her. She never met a stranger and was an awesome cook.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Carol Allen and Carolyn Ruby of Spring; daughter, Kathleen Ruby Derrington of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Patty Ruby of Lufkin and David and Diane Ruby of Forest; granddaughters, Christine Slinkard and husband Lloyd, Rachel Derrington / Yarbrough; and Jennifer Ruby; grandsons, Michael Ruby and wife Julie, Daniel Ruby, and Josh Ruby and wife Molly; great-grandchildren, Justin, Megan, Preston, Cole, Justin, Landon, Lachlan, and Madeline; longtime friend, Jean Hope; and a number of other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Rayford Ruby; brother, Richard Allen; and son-in-law, Jerry Dallas Derrington.

Pallbearers will be Michael Ruby, Josh Ruby, Daniel Ruby, Justin Ruby, Preston Ruby, Cole Slinkard, Justin Yarbrough, and Landon Yarbrough.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
