

John was born November 13, 1933 in Huntsville, Texas to Leonard and Maude Baldwin. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, October 24 at 2:30 p.m. in the Henderson Chapel of the First United Methodist Church.
John was the youngest of seven children and felt a special kinship to the Piney Woods of East Texas. He was a member of the founding faculty of Angelina College, serving as an Instructor in Government and History and as Director of the Liberal Arts Division. He was associated with the college for 30 years. He held membership in the Kiwanis Club, First United Methodist Church and several career-related professional organizations. Historical places and events were a special interest and respect for the historical principals of this country were deeply instilled in his family. His love of animals was an important element in his life and any animal seeking a warm welcome and a good meal found it with John.
John was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Elizabeth Holman, Lyndel Reece, and Virginia Squyres. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law Betsy and Tom Sunstrom of Austin; son and daughter-in-law Barry and Sandra Nash of Dallas; son and daughter-in-law David and Shawn Nash of Greenville; grandchildren, Barrett, Shelby, and Quyn Nash, and Hannah, Harper and Nora Sunstrom; brothers Leonard Baldwin of Laramie, Wyoming, and Edward Baldwin of Lafayette, Louisiana , and sister Mary Joyce Boettcher of Huntsville, and a number of neices and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his many college associates and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wednesday Night Supper Friends.
Special appreciation must be given to Dr. Tom Willis and the staff of Lottie Temple and The Arbors at Pinecrest Retirement Community for their concern and care.
