

Mrs. Carter was born December 16, 1948 in Mississippi, daughter of the late Daisy (Wilburn) and Noel Johnson. She passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 in a local hospital.
Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and gardening.
She would often tell her grandkids, 'I love you a bushel and a peck with a hug around the neck", a beautiful expression of the boundless love she had for them.
She had a profound faith in God, which guided her through life and brought her peace and strength. She was a shining example of kindness and compassion, always eager to lend a helping hand. Her love for Southern gospel music filled her days with joy; she listened to it every day, finding comfort and inspiration in its melodies.
Survivors include husband, Charles Edward Carter of Huntington; children, Tim Carter and Amy of San Antonio, John Carter of Lufkin, Charlinda and Cary Wells of Huntington; grandchildren, Chris Carter and Devina Moore, Geoff Carter, Zach Carter, Bethany Carter, Shelby and Carlton Willis, Samuel and Courtney Mosley, Trent and Morgan Wells, Trinty Wells, Jasmine and Paul Trevino, Isaiah and Robyn Bernal, numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry and Young Johnson, Kenneth and Nelda Johnson, and Sue and John Duke; Mike and Kay Johnson and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Chris Carter, Zach Carter, Geoff Carter, Samuel Mosley, Trent Wells, Carlton Willis, Isaiah Bernal and Cody Carter.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bentley Moore and Blaine Mosley.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
