

Mrs. Walton was born in Jacksonville, Texas, graduated high school in Karnack, Texas in 1946, and attended business college. She was married to Jack M. Hester for 35 years. She moved to Lufkin from Marshall in 1952. She worked for Lufkin Industries for many years and retired from Gipson Funeral Home following 25 years of service. Mr. Hester passed away in 1978 and she married Al S. Walton, Sr. in 1991.
Mrs. Walton was an avid traveler with the Blue Bonnett Travel Club. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, putting puzzle together, crocheting, gardening, and cooking. She volunteered with CISC (Christian Information & Service Center). She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Women's Circle.
Survivors include her son, Ron Hester of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Dr. Richard Ruckman and Angelia and Larry Cordova; stepsons and their wives, Bert and Sharon Walton of Dayton and Al and Linda Walton of Friendswood; grandchildren, Scott and Rob Looney, Blake Bezanson, Matthew Hester and Jacqueline Bryant; step-grandchildren, Jeremy Walton and wife Lisa, Bryan Walton and wife Beca, Kimberly Rouse and husband Anthony, Christy Walton, Michelle Myers and husband Mike; great-grandchildren, Christopher Looney, Gavin Looney, Reid Morgan Looney; step-great grandchildren, James, Joshua, Jonathon, and Lissa Walton, Rowynn and Isabelle Walton, Kylie and Kaitlyn Rouse and Leyla Myers; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Joe Leediker of Lufkin; brother, James C. "Sonny" Ivie of Clive, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin "Buddy" and Bettie Ivie of Shreveport, Louisiana; brother-in-law, Johnny McLendon; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Walton was preceded in death by her husband, Jack M. Hester and Al S. Walton, Sr.; and sister, Geneva McLendon.
Mrs. Walton's grandson, granddaughter, and nephew, Pat Garrett will serve as pallbearers.
Services for Mrs. Walton will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Jacqueline Hannan and Dr. Bryan Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
