Martin Owen Glenn, born October 17, 1932, was a native of Greenbrier, Arkansas. He graduated from Greenbrier High School, and then went on to graduate from Capital City Business College in Little Rock, Arkansas in March 1952. After serving in the Air Force for four years during the Korean War, Martin graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1960. While still a student, he met his future wife of almost 57 years, Marlene Levelle Lester.
After graduation, Martin was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Monroe, Louisiana until August, 1960. Martin moved to Lufkin, was employed by the Bartlett, Baggett, and Shands Insurance Agency in September, where he worked until his retirement in January of 2001. Upon moving to Lufkin, Martin joined First Baptist Church where he was an active member serving on various committees including being Chairman of the Trustees and Chairman of the Deacons. He also was a teacher and Director of the Young Adult Sunday School Department.
Martin and Levelle were married on January 28, 1961, at First Baptist Church, Lufkin. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Owen Glenn and Olga (Martin) Glenn; spouse of almost 57 years, Marlene Levelle; and son, Randall Keith Glenn.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Martye and Rev. Dr. John Fluth; three grandsons: Craig (wife, Martha), Kent (wife, Addie) and Chad; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Martin will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Gipson Funeral Home, 1515 S. Chestnut St., Lufkin, Texas 75901, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
