

Born on April 26, 1944, Mary was a graduate of Diboll High School. She went on to make history as the first female to head the maintenance department for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice—a testament to her strength, determination, and pioneering spirit.
A devoted member of First Assembly of God, Mary lived her life with faith, love, and a deep commitment to others. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially cooking for her family, which was always her greatest priority.
Mary is survived by her beloved children: Hugh Robert Cobb of Bryan, Benjamin Matthew Cobb of Forest, and Jerry Michael Cobb of Diboll; her grandchildren Hunter Cobb of Waco, Tyler Cobb of Diboll, Easton Cobb of Diboll, Morgan Nickel of Wells, and Madison Beamer of Forest; her sister-in-law Mary Clark of Diboll. Mary will also be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Fannie Clark, and her siblings, Billie Weese, Kenneth Clark, and Jerry Clark, and her niece Debbie Cunningham.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin. A Celebration of Mary’s Life will follow at 11:00 a.m., with interment at Narrow Way Cemetery in Hudson.
Pallbearers will be Trey Moore, Travis Smith, Jamichael Brown, Alex Forney, Aaron Smith, and Larry Curtis. Honorary pallbearers include Clarence Bass and Terry Mason.
Mary Cobb will be remembered for her trailblazing accomplishments, steadfast faith, and the deep love she held for her family. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
