

Odis Gordon Kendrick, 92, of Lufkin, was born January 21, 1920 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the son of the late Fred and Ezette Kendrick. He passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 at his home, surrounded by family.
Mr. Kendrick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served his country in World War II as an Army Engineer, serving in Europe and Northern Africa. he returned to Lufkin to start C & K Radiator Shop with his partner, Vetma Crain. They added a Yamaha and chainsaw franchise and he worked there until he retired in 1985 after 40 years. He was a member and Deacon at Denman Avenue Baptist Church for the last 54 years. He always had a smile, kind heart, and touched the lives of everyone he met.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dell Kendrick of Lufkin; his children and their spouses, Harold and Sharon Kendrick of Grand Prairie, Texas and Martha and Allan Hodges of Pickerington, Ohio; grandchildren, Ronda Krontz of Tomball, Misty Ferris of Grand Prairie, Ashley McRuiz of Longview, Alyssa Wilson of Pickerington, Ohio and Tyson Hodges of South Lebanon, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, and Tiffany Krontz, Wesley and Tyler Ferris, Katie McRuiz, Moriah, Caleb, Nathan, Grace and Lily Wilson; and a host of friends.
Mr. Kendrick's family wishes to thank our wonderful caretaker, Tanya Tharp and all the caring staff at Hospice in the Pines, especially Debbie Cook, who with us when he passed away.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Weaver, Carl Weaver, Ken Reeves, Charles Parham, Don Seelbach, and Ronnie Lusk.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
Services for Mr. Kendrick will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Charles Roberts and Bro. Jeff Moats officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
