Peggy Jean Spencer

Ms. Spencer was born December 11, 1943 in Cleveland County, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Maggie (Spakes) and Lester V. Grider. She passed away Monday, September 11, 2017, in a local hospital.

Ms. Spencer was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She graduated from the Mainland College with an accounting degree, and retired from U.T.M.B. as an accountant. She enjoyed gardening and loved family get-togethers. Many of her family and friends referred to her as Aunt Peg.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya (Spencer) and Jimmy Johnston of Lufkin and Mindy (Spencer) and Joey Hanes of Diboll; grandson, Trace K. Johnston; sisters, Barbara “Honey” Grider Grote of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Joan Perry of Warren, Arkansas; brothers, Sonny Grider of Bryant, Arkansas, John Grider and James “Peanut” Grider, both of Warren, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Spencer was preceded in death by 4 brothers; 2 sisters; and her loving nephew, Brent West.
