She was raised and educated in Houston, where she graduated at the top of her class with honors from Houston Baptist University in nursing. She spent her life, both professionally and personally, caring for others.
She is survived by her only son John William Hancock and daughter-in-law Shelley Hancock of San Antonio, her parents WL and Vivian Hampton of Rockport, and her brother JT Hampton and sister-in-law Cheryl Hampton and their children of Houston; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, the Kirklands of Lufkin and Dallas.
Her ministry was the healing love of Christ Jesus, which she shared with her family, friends, and patients. She will be sorely missed… She slipped the surly bonds of Earth to touch the face of God on December 22, 2011. Heaven is enriched by her presence… “And you shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” John 8:32.
Services for Rebecca will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28,2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Deborah Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
