Ruth Schaeffer

Ruth Dunaway Schaeffer, 89, of Lufkin, was born October 13, 1921 in Porum, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Martha (Brown) and Solomon Viott Dunaway. She passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Schaeffer was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Schaeffer Selling of Rockwall; sons, Ronald J. Schaeffer of Lufkin, Michael D. Fraser of Los Angeles, California and Richard L. Fraser of Albany, Oregon; granddaugher, Kelly Schaeffer; grandsons, Jeffery Snider, John Schaeffer, Noah Schaeffer and Jack Schaeffer; great-granddaughter, Shelby Snider; daughters-in-law, Linda Schaeffer, Patress Schaeffer; and Supatra Fraser; son-in-law, Daniel Selling; special caregiver, Ticia Rodgers; and a number of other family members and friends.

Mrs. Schaeffer was preceded in death by her husband, John Lawrence Schaeffer; son, John Lawrence Schaeffer III of Oak Park, Illinois; and brothers, Claude Dunaway, Dyton Dunaway, Herbert Dunaway, Ray Dunaway and Floyd Dunaway.

Services for Mrs. Schaeffer will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
