Funeral services for Sandra Corbell, 80, of Lufkin, will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, September 21, 2023 in the Gipson Funeral Home chapel, with Wade Alexander officiating. Interment will take place at 1 PM at Strong Cemetery in Huxley, TX.
Mrs. Corbell was born September 22, 1942, in Shreveport, LA, daughter to the late Melba Mae (Robinson) and Harold Watson. She passed away peacefully Friday, September 15, 2023, in a local hospital.
Sandra enjoyed watching hummingbirds and game shows. On her spare time she enjoyed going garage saleing. She attended Byrd High School. In 1960, Sandy met a young airman stationed at Barksdale Air Force in Bossier City. In 1961, Sandra and Perry (Pedro) Corbell were united in marriage by Rev. J. Carroll Chadwick in his home in Center, Texas. After Perry retired from the Air Force having been stationed in Alaska, Hawaii, Thailand, Wichita Falls, Austin and Forth Worth, they made their home in Lufkin.
Sandy endured heartbreak as she attended to Perry's needs when he struggled with ASL (Lou Gehrig's) until his death in 1998. She was a faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother, and much beloved sister and aunt.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Keith Parrott of Lufkin, Rebecca Brown of Lufkin; son, Cody Corbell of Lufkin; grandchildren, Travis Parrott and Daniel Stokes; brothers, Jimmy Watson, Frank Watson, and Tommy Watson; sisters-in-law, Montez and Joe McNaughten, Jerry Sue Williams, Betty and Gene Blount and Charlotte Ingle; and numerous other relatives.
She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Perry (Pedro) Corbell; brothers, Joe Watson and Robert Watson; father and mother-in-law, PC and Lovetta Corbell; sister, Beth Watson; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Dale Vincent; and niece, Kathi Goodwyn.
Pallbearers will be Cody Corbell, Daniel Stokes, Chris Hawk, Kaleb Boles, Bryan Watson, and Kevin Ingle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Parrott and Travis Parrott.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning at the funeral home.
