

Sarah J. Brashear, 71, of Lufkin, was born January 6, 1940 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Vivian (Wilkerson) and O. P. Reynolds. She passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Brashear was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a beautician. She enjoyed reading western and romance novels, gardening, cooking, sewing, and crocheting. She was a member of McKindree Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years and 26 days, Kenneth Brashear; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Karri Brashear; son, John Brashear; grandchildren, Brittany Brashear, Dex Brashear, Kandis Brashear and Jordan Brashear; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cullen and Shirley Reynolds and Don and Fran Reynolds; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brashear was preceded in death by her sister, Jerolyn Conditt; and brothers, Joe Clark Reynolds and C. L. "Bubba" Reynolds.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Burran, Keith Brashear, Eddy Wayne Whitehead, L. C. Whitehead, Chris Sparks and Tom Clover.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Services for Mrs. Brashear will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Lamar Merritt officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Berry Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
