

Graveside services for Sue Jean (Bonner) Kirkland, 80, of the Shawnee Switch Community in Huntington, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in the Shofner Cemetery, with Bro. Lamar Denby and Bro. Cary Modisett officiating.
Mrs. Kirkland was born October 7, 1935 in the Odell Community near Huntington, Texas to the late Ruby C. (Shofner) and Johnnie Bonner. She passed away peacefully from this world on Sunday, January 10, 2016.
Mrs. Kirkland was a lifelong resident of the Shawnee Switch Community following her marriage to Norman Dale (Curly) Kirkland on February 16, 1954. She was a homemaker, rancher, gardener and rural letter carrier for 24 years. She was a faithful member of Highway Baptist Church, where she taught Vacation Bible School and attended the Martha Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband, N. D. (Curly) Kirkland of Huntington; beloved son, James Dale Kirkland of Huntington; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Wanda Bonner of Huntington; sister, Bonnie Simms of Central; sisters-in-law, Minnie Lee Kirkland of Huntington, Iva Joyce Crocker of Arlington, and Florine Bonner of Spring; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends, too many to count.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kirkland was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul R. Bonner and Jack H. Bonner; brothers-in-law, Tommy L. Kirkland and George A. Crocker; and sister-in-law, Elaine Bonner.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Wells LTC nursing facility and Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving care they gave to Sue Jean.
