It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony (Tony) Calderan Jr., 87, of Lynn, Massachusetts, who passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Salem, Massachusetts. Born on September 9, 1937, in Lynn, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of Antonio and Maria Calderan of Italy.
A proud graduate of Swampscott High School, Tony went on to serve his country honorably as a Private First Class in the United States Army. His service reflected the same dedication and strength that would define his life in the years to come.
Tony’s greatest joy was his family. He shared 65 loving years of marriage with his devoted wife Carolyn. Together they built a family rooted in love and unity. He was a cherished father to Karen Calderan of Lynn; Diane (and her husband Peter Shabowich of Danvers); Anthony (and his wife Jayne of Bedminster, New Jersey); and Paul (and his wife Lisa of Lynn.)
He took immense pride in being a grandfather to Donald Calderan (and his wife Lauren of Chelmsford;) Brandy Shabowich of Danvers; Joshua Calderan (and his wife Jillian of Jaffrey, New Hampshire); Zachery Shabowich of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Lydia Calderan of Lynn; and great grandfather to Autumn Calderan of Chelmsford.
He is also survived by his sister, Virginia Donnelly of Lynn, and many nieces and nephews.
Tony’s life was centered around family. He loved them deeply and unconditionally—a devotion that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Anthony’s Funeral will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 10:30 AM in St. Pius Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinsons.org)
