Arthur E. Reed passed quietly and peacefully on March 25. Surrounded by what mattered to him the most his girls. He was 94. During this lifetime, all of which he lived in Lynn, he saw many changes and was a part of the Greatest Generation. A Purple Heart recipient he served his country in World War II in the Philippines and South Pacific, with the United States Marine Corp. After the war he returned to Lynn married Eleanor Smith Reed, who predeceased him last April. They shared over 65 years of marriage. He was an employee of Champion Lamp Factory, The Lynn School Department, and for 33 years he was the custodian at The Community Covenant church in Peabody.
He is survived in this life by his three daughters, Donna Crown of Lynnfield, Barbara Schantz and her husband Stan of Middleton, JoAnn Middleton and her husband Kenneth of Lynn. He enjoyed being a father, but there was nothing he enjoyed more than being "Bumpie" to Jason, Nicole, Trent, Gregory, Caitlyn, Cameron, Jennifer, Benjamin & Elizabeth. He was also Bumpie to all of their friends.
