
Mr. Austin E. Parsons, age 86 years, of Salem, formerly of Whitman, died Saturday at the Radius Health Care Center in Danvers, after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Wilma (Doody) Parsons. Born in Lynn he was the son of the late Wesley and Mary (Snow) Parsons. He attended schools in Chelsea. Mr. Parsons served in the U.S. Army during WW II, seeing action in Rhineland, and the Eastern European Theater. Austin was employed as a Template Maker for Westend Ironworks in Cambridge for 35 years until her retired in 1989. He was a member and past recording secretary for the Ironworkers Local #501. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed singing, ballroom dancing, writing poetry and playing bingo. He is survived by three sons Scott A. and his wife Debbie Parsons of Shelbyville, TN, Mark A. and his Priscilla Parsons of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, William H. and his wife Karen Parsons of Salem, one daughter Wendy Walker of Billerica, one sister Ruthie Ostler of Saugus, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Service Details: Austin's funeral will be at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Wednesday at 9:00 AM, followed by services in the Grace Community Church 17 Pleasant St. Marblehead at 10:30 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are at the Parker Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Please make memorial donation in his name to Salem Council of Aging, 5 Broad St. Salem, MA 01970.
