Barbara is survived by her children Patricia and Joseph, her grandchildren Heather, Gary, and Joseph and her great-grandchildren Hadley, Cora, and Vinnie. She also loved her many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was born in Swampscott, MA on October 10, 1928. Barbara graduated from Lynnfield High School. Barbara started her career working on the assembly lines at the GE. She loved that she got to learn each role so that she could fill in where needed. Barbara then worked at CAP’s Auto Parts in Lynn. CAP’s was her father’s shop. She worked there until she retired at the age of 70.
Barbara is predeceased from her husband Anthony (Tony) Lucca. Barbara and Anthony met at a dance hall. Anthony went to serve in the Korean War. Before he was deployed, Barbara got on a train all by herself to Washington DC where Barbara and Anthony were married at the city hall. The taxi driver was their witness.
Barbara loved dancing and playing cards. She also loved watching TV and said she didn’t spend money on drinking and gambling so she was going to spend her money on a nice TV. Barbara lived most of her life in Lynn, MA in the same house on Pine Grove Ave where both Patricia and Joey grew up. Her husband Tony passed away at the age of 55.
Some of Barbara’s favorite trips were going to Italy with her daughter and granddaughter, going to Virginia to visit her son Joseph, and going on cruises with her best friend June. Barbara and June became best friends at the age of 16 and remained close friends until June’s passing.
Barbara loved hosting the annual Caproni family Christmas party. Barbara loved to cook and her eggplant parmesan was a family favorite. One year Barbara hosted Thanksgiving and the family overheard her on the phone telling someone what a bunch of pigs we all were. This led to Barbara receiving many pig related gifts over the years as we never let her forget that one.
Although Barbara never remarried after Tony had passed she was in a serious relationship with another man named Tony that she knew from Lynn. They spent many years together until Tony’s passing in his 80’s. Barbara and Tony lived next door to Barbara’s sister Joan on her niece Joanne’s property. Barbara loved her time spent on Miracle farm.
It’s no secret that Barbara loved her snacks. Especially a bag of potato chips and a piece of chocolate candy. She would often credit her long life to her love of junk food.
These last few years Barbara has enjoyed doing her word search puzzles, watching animal planet, and visits from family.
