It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much-loved mother, Beverly (Montejunas) A. Upham, age 94, of Swampscott, on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born on August 7, 1930, in Lynn to the late Joseph and Anna (Baker) Montejunas.
Bev lived life as a wonderful mom, homemaker, cook, gardener and a consummate reader, never without a good book. Her joy was her late husband George, and their family of 4 children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. In the early 1980's, Beverly and her husband George embarked on their retirement career of purchasing, renovating, and selling several properties across the Northshore in Lynn, Lynnfield, and Swampscott. When house flipping became less practical for them, they moved into son Mark's two-family home living out their days in Swampscott on Sherwood Road. She loved refinishing furniture, making pies, trying out new recipes, and was a shrewd yard sale bargain hunter. If you called on a Saturday, Dad would say she was "out sailing", i.e. yard-saling.
She leaves behind daughter Susan Petrovek, and her late husband Wayne of NH, son Mark Upham and his wife Charlotte of Swampscott, and son Michael Upham and his wife Kelly of Marblehead, grandchildren Matthew Petrovek and Caitlin Carter of NH, Harry Upham and his fiancé Bree Moonan of Salem, Hannah Upham and her fiancé Joe Legere of Salem, and Maggie Upham of Somerville, great- grandchildren Bailey and Myles Carter of NH, niece Beverly Aiman and her husband Scott of NH, and best friend since grade school at St. Mary's, Margaret Driscoll of Peabody. In addition to her parents and her husband, Beverly is predeceased by her son Joseph Upham.
Per the family's request all services will be private.
