
Carmela M. Picone (D’Agnese), age 92, of Swampscott, Massachusetts passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Carmela was born August 15, 1929. Beloved wife of the late Luke A. Picone. Loving mother of Steven Picone and his wife Lisa Hynes of Swampscott and the late Holly Picone. Adored grandmother of Grace Picone of Swampscott, Samantha Picone of Lynn and Melissa Ryan of Saugus. Cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Rose D’Agnese. Dear sister of the late Ralph D’Agnese, Florence Goodwin, and Tony D’Agnese. Carmela is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and Coco, a cherished chocolate lab.
Carmela loved her family and friends and she especially loved cooking for all of them. This is one of the many things that her family will miss. Carmela loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel many places in the world with her husband. When she was not traveling, she enjoyed her job at Crown Drug in Lynn and enjoyed her daily walks in Swampscott. Carmela was a proud parishioner of Holy Family Church in Lynn her entire life. She went to church faithfully every Tuesday and Sunday. In her later years, she was taken care of by her son and daughter-in-law and her wonderful caregivers, Taja and Susan, from First Light Homecare. She was a truly a wonderful person and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Mass for Carmela will be held at the Holy Family Church 21 Bessom St. Lynn on Wednesday, January 19th at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours prior to the mass at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral home 157 Maple St. Lynn from 9am – 10:30am. All are required to wear masks. Interment will be at Swampscott Cemetery.
