Florence (Young) Martin Tilton, of Swampscott, died June 21, 2011. She was born on February 21, 1921 in Willsboro, NY, daughter of John and Delia (King) Young. Graduate of Willsboro High School in 1939, she moved to Lynn, MA in 1942 when she married her childhood sweetheart, Philip A. Martin, also of Willsboro.
She was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #2346 in Saugus, and her second husband, Donald R. Tilton was the VFW Commander. They were married in Hawaii in 1970.
She was a Supervisor at United Farmers Milk Company for 33 years, and then worked at West Lynn Creamery. She also received numerous volunteer awards from the VFW and Salem Hospital in MA.
Florence leaves behind her loving children Patricia (Martin) Carley and her husband Adam, and Philip J. Martin and his wife Joan, all of NH; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her steadfast companion of many years, Jack Dodge; her brother Peter Young and his wife Connie, and other wonderful relatives and friends.
Private services and burial will be held in Willsboro, NY. Please send donations to the American Cancer Society or VFW.
