Francis J. "Fran" Keaney Jr.

Born in Lynn, Fran was the son of the late Francis J. and Theresa M. (McDermott) Keaney. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Boys High School Class of 1942 and resided in Lynn his entire life.

Fran enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict, being honorably discharged in 1951 with the rank of Sergeant. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an Administrative Assistant for over 40 years by the United States Federal Government.

Fran is survived by 3 nieces, Anne Ridley and her husband James of Lynn, Marie Bacherman and her husband Paul of Lynn and Jean Lepore and her husband John of Weston, CT; 4 nephews, Joseph McCarthy and his wife Jean of Lynn, Stephen McCarthy and his wife Theresa of Lynn, Daniel McCarthy and his wife Deborah of Danvers and Robert McCarthy and his wife Maria of Marlborough. He was the brother-in-law of Edmund J. McCarthy of Lynn and the brother of the late Edward W. Keaney and Rita M. McCarthy.

Fran’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Monday at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass in the Holy Family Church at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited.
