

George was born in Boston on November 12, 1925 to the late Dr. Francis Cooley Hall and Priscilla (Perry) Hall. He was raised in Chestnut Hill and educated at Rivers Country Day School, Milton Academy Class of 1943 and Harvard College Class of 1947.
He served in the US Army Air Corps from 1944-1945. He worked at Little, Brown and Company book publishers in Boston for over 40 years until he retired as its Executive Vice President in 1992. He also served for many years on the board of the Harvard University Press and the board of trustees of Wheelock College. He loved the ocean and was an avid sailor for most of his life.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Marion Russell and her husband James of Los Angeles, CA, George Hall Jr. and his wife Meg Vitale of Topsfield, Susannah Hall of Saugus and William Hall and his wife Setsuko (Otsuka) of Swampscott. He was the twin brother of Dr. Arthur P. Hall of Newton and is also survived by 5 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Priscilla Hall Fitch and brothers, Francis Hall Jr. and Howland Hall.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 11:00AM in the Nahant Village Church, 27 Cliff St. NAHANT. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to Wheelock College, Development Office, 200 The Riverway, Boston, MA 02215.
