Harry Godfrey Thomas Jr.

Harry Godfrey Thomas Jr., age 78, of Lynn, Massachusetts passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Harry was born May 4, 1943. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Thomas. Loving companion of Maureen Baker of 11 years. Loving father of Valerie Anyaogu of Florida and Laurie Thomas. Cherished grandfather of Sasha Williams and her partner Duane Patrick of Lynn. Loving great grandfather of Valentyna and Devantay Patrick. Dear brother of Jane Fultz and her husband Lewis of Haverhill, Sandra Faust of Haverhill and the late John Thomas. Adored son of the late Harry G Thomas Sr. and Catherine D. (Waller). Harry was also a proud “Friend of Bill W.”

For several decades Harry Thomas was a beacon of hope & a model of recovery and change for so many. For thousands of inmates he cared for over the years of service as an employee of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office and as an employee and colleague for Adcare Criminal Justice Services. For years he would give the morning motivational talk to inmates so they too could have hope that they could change their lives for the better. Just as he had done himself. He loved sharing his story of recovery and change to others. He lived a life of service, of helping others, and was a power of example to thousands. He truly walked the talk.

A visitation will be held for Harry on Thursday November 18th at the Cuffe-McGinn funeral home from 4pm – 7:30pm, followed by a prayer service at 7:30pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
