James E. Desilets

James E. Desilets, 78, of Conway, South Carolina, formerly of Lynn, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. He was the beloved son of the late Edward J. Desilets and Edna (Snow) Desilets.

Mr. Desilets dedicated more than two decades of service to the Lynn Fire Department. He began his career with Engine 3 in 1980, later serving with Rescue Engine 1, and concluded his distinguished career with Engine 7 before retiring in 2003. In addition to his service as a firefighter, he was a proud veteran of the United States Army. James was actively involved in his community and generously gave his time to Pack 22 and Troop 22 of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He was also a member of the Firefighters Relief Association and served with the Honor Guard. In his leisure time, he greatly enjoyed golfing.

James is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Patricia (Dwyer) Desilets of Conway, South Carolina. He was the loving father of Richard J. Desilets and his wife Danielle of Lynn; Timothy E. Desilets and his wife Danielle of Salem; and Daniel P. Desilets and his wife Amy of Peabody. He also leaves behind 4 cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Madison, Daniel and Juliana. He was preceded in death by his sister, June O. Kassiotis.

A visitation will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home in Lynn on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Interment and military honors will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn.
