Joan M. Wood

Born in Lynn, Joan was the daughter of the late Frederick and Juliette (Sylvain) Stickney. She attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn English High School.

In earlier years, Joan worked at the Lynn Sunday Post and was a den mother for Pack #22. She enjoyed poetry and took courses in creative writing. She also loved teaching oil painting and cake decorating. She was an active and faithful communicant of St. Pius V Church. Above all, she will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother whose compassion, dedication and love were second to none.

She leaves her children: John F. Wood and his wife Judy of Freeport, ME, David S. Wood and his wife Sandra of Georgetown, Paul Wood of Lynn, Daniel Wood of Woburn and Julianne Vigliotta of Londonderry, NH. She was the sister of Ronald Stickney and his late wife Toni of New Hampshire, Earl Stickney and his wife Sandra of Lynn and Janice Morello and her husband Joe of Rowley. Loving Grandmother to Taylor and Anne, Matthew and Kyle, Tina, Keith, Leah and Joshua, Danny, Jr., and Bryan and Stephen and his wife Caitlyn and loving Great Grandmother to Mackenzie Kelly Stille. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Kelly J. Stille and sister to the late Richard Allen Stickney.

Joan’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Friday at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8PM. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
