

Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Nolan and Margery (Lennon) Dow. He attended Lynn Public Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
After the war, Pete made a career as an inspector for GE Riverworks where he was a shop steward and union trustee. He was an avid Boston Sports fan. Pete thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids especially attending their sporting events. He was a member of the Franco American Color Guard. Pete was active in youth baseball and football as he was the first D squad coach for East Lynn Pop Warner. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Rochester, NH. Pete was best known for his quick wit and great sense of humor.
Joseph is survived by his children; Joseph Dow, Jr., Robert Dow and his wife Gwen, Petey Dow and his wife Jill, Kathleen Thomas, Colleen Vaczy, Kelly Dow, Karen Dow, Renie Dow Carlene Dow, and Michelle Bernier and her husband Duane. He was also survived by 28 Grandchildren and 35 Great Grandchildren. Joseph is survived by his brother Paul McCormack and his sister Jean Russell. He was the brother of the late Ernie, Richard, John, James, Charles, Robert and Raymond Dow, Marjorie LaRiviere, Gloria Ringdahl, Delores Beaton, Clair Nelson and Joyce Rebidue. Pete is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday September 8, 2014 at 11am at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street Lynn, MA. Visitation Sunday 4-8pm. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.Arrangements under the direction of Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, Lynn, MA.
