
Born in Lynn, Joseph was the son of the late Edward F. and Mary A. (Person) Flattery. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Boy’s High School and later attended the A & E Technical School and The Franklin Institute. He also took the photography classes at Harvard University.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduating High School and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict, being honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Joseph was a member of the Valladolid Council #70 Knights of Columbus, the Danvers Fish & Game Club and the Lynn Camera Club.
He leaves his sister, Sr. Geraldine Flattery, O.P. of St. Catharine, KY and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frederick T. and Edward F. Flattery, Jr., Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Gladys A. Flattery, Edith Batstone, Gertrude D’Entremont and Mary A. and Frances Flattery.
Joseph’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday at 10:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Chapel at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visitation prior to Mass beginning at 9:00AM.
