Judith A. Downing

Mrs. Judith Ann (Enquist) Downing, age 74, of Lynn, died unexpectedly at Massachusetts General Hospital on Tuesday evening after a sudden illness. She was the beloved wife of Robert Downing, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn, Judith was the daughter of the late Gustave and Mary (O’Donnell) Enquist. She attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn English High School. She was a lifelong resident of Lynn.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for the G.E. and later spent many years as a sterilizer at Salem Hospital. Judith was a lifelong Beano player and also enjoyed playing cards, shopping, traveling, and taking her granddaughter to dance class.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her two children, Kim Gaudet and her husband Guy and Michael Downing and his wife Vasana all of Lynn. She was the twin sister of Jacquelyn Michaud of Peabody and the sister of Donna Tripoli and her husband Mike of Haverhill. She was the loving Grandmother to Gregory and Jeffrey Gaudet and Amanda and Michael Downing and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Judith was the sister to the late John and Albert Enquist, Dora Brown, Betty Murphy and Delphine Jodrie.

Judith’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8PM.
