Lawrence "Larry" J. Clifford

Born on November 13, 1943 to the late Lawrence and Sylvia (Clayton) Clifford. Larry grew up in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1961. The Clifford family had a home in Deerfield, NH, where Larry enjoyed many summers (unhappily cutting the grass). He attended Boston University and Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he played hockey at both schools. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam as an Instructor. Larry was a self-employed Mechanical Engineer, using age-old machines passed on by his father, to make custom parts for MIT, Gillette and for many other projects.

Larry coached hockey for many years at Lynn Tech and Lynn English High School and noted that coaching hockey was the best thing he did in his life. Larry was a dedicated member of Tartan Gordon Setter Club. He had many Gordon Setters over the years, which he loved to show and hunt. Larry loved to tinker with antique cars, he loved long drives and taking the scenic route. He loved the life that he built over the last 25 years with Denny and kids.

Larry was the devoted dog-dad to Pete; devoted father-figure to Amy Griffin and her husband Fred, Carin Bennett-Rizzo and her husband Eric, and Joe Bennett and his girlfriend, Jenna D’Angelo. The cherished grandfather-figure to John, Mary Kate, and Joe Griffin.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM. A graveside service for Larry will be held on Wednesday, October 7, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, meeting at the Boston Street Entrance at 10:15 AM.
