Lawrence J. McLaughlin

Mr. Lawrence J McLaughlin (Larry), 81, of Lynn, died Wednesday, February 23 in his home. He was the devoted husband of Dorothy Kay-McLaughlin (deceased April 18th, 2009) for many years.

Born in Lynn, MA, son of the late Charles and Kathleen (Wood) McLaughlin, he was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School and received a bachelor's degree from Tufts University. He resided in Lynn his entire life and had a life-long career as a mechanical engineer at General Electric.

Larry enjoyed time with friends and family and was passionate about classical music, Dungeons and Dragons, camping, and waterfalls.

He leaves behind his daughters Carleen McLaughlin of Lynn, Laura Boudreau and her husband Don of Plymouth, Therese Kay and her husband Mario Prieto of Lynn, and daughter-in-law Christina Walsh of Lowell as well as his sister Kathleen Troisi and her husband Joseph of Wakefield and sister-in-law Jean McLaughlin of Lynn. He also leaves behind his nine grandchildren Devin, Dana, Austin, Corey, Ryan, Madyson, Elizabeth, Steven, and Trevor, and one great-grandchild Maddylin. His pet cat Squeaks and grand-dog Bruin will also miss him.

He is pre-deceased by his parents Charles and Kathleen McLaughlin, his brother Richard McLaughlin, his daughter Judith Kay, and his wife Dorothy Kay-McLaughlin.

Visiting hours will be held at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn from 4-8pm on Monday, February 28th. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 1 at St. Stephen’s Memorial Episcopal Church at 74 South Common St. in Lynn. Please meet directly at the church. Interment will be private.
