

Born on November 27, 1931 in New Britain, CT he was the son of the late Anthony and Sophie (Pryga) Wolak. Mitch grew up in New Britain, CT and graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors of Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He served with the United States Airforce during the Korean War. He spent his veterinary career at Lynn Animal Clinic before his retirement.
The youngest of four, Mitch was predeceased by his sister Maryanne Cichowski and brother Theodore Wolak, both of CT. He leaves behind his beloved sister, Leocadia “Lottie” Zak of Lynn, his long-time partner Elaine Grevelis of Salem, his sister-in-law Modesta Wolak of CT, several nieces and nephews including Francis Cichowski and his wife Joyce of FL; Ronald Cichowski and his wife Kathy of Carver, MA; Leora (Wolak) Moquin and her husband James of CT; Wade Wolak of CT; Francis Zak and his wife Patricia of Longmeadow, MA; Mary (Zak) Archambault and her husband Leo of Lynn; Leocadia “Lee” Zak and her husband Kenneth Hansen of Washington, DC; and many wonderful friends.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish in Lynn. Mitch loved golfing and socializing and could be found around town with friends at Wendy’s on Boston St. in Lynn, Kane’s Donuts in Saugus, and at New Brothers Restaurant in Danvers. Mitch enjoyed sharing jokes and making others laugh. He would have appreciated the following: “Today a man knocked on my door and asked for a small donation towards the local swimming pool. I gave him a glass of water.”
The funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Monday at 9:30am, followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lynn at 10:30am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Cuffe-McGinn Sunday 4-7p.m.
