

Mrs. Mona M. (Hunt) Stanwood, age 88, of Salem and formerly of Lynn, died Saturday, April 16th, at home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Ret. Army Chief Warrant Officer Daniel V. Stanwood.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Wendell P. Hunt and Annie (Willett) Hunt-Gauthier. She graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1941, and lived in Salem since 2007.
A veteran of WWII, she served in the Women’s Army Corps. After the war she worked as a practical nurse for 30 years and retired in 1965. She had worked at Union Hospital and had done private duty nursing.
She was a Past Mother President of the Lynn Chapter of the Order of DeMolay.
She leaves three sons John F. Stanwood and his wife Linda of Ft. Wayne, IN, Daniel V. Stanwood, Jr. and his close friend Carol Santoro of Salem, and Stephen W. Stanwood and his wife B. of East Boston, two daughters Sharon L. Lougee and her husband John of Lynn, and Judy-Anne Bailey and her husband Roger of Derry, NH, 11 Grandchildren, 17 Great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late K. Wayne Stanwood and sister of the late Leroy E. “Bill” and Donald P. Hunt, Margaret P. Easton, Wilma Charlotte Smith, Edith Guay-Collins and Nancy Storey.
Her funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd at 11 AM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday 3-7 PM.
