Nancy L. Comeau, 79, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully at Kaplan Family Hospice House on September 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy lived a life marked by love, quiet strength, a strong work ethic, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Nancy was the devoted mother of Lisa Atkinson and Paul Atkinson. Her greatest joy was her family and she poured her heart into raising her children. She treasured every moment spent as a grandmother and great-grandmother, finding delight in the growth and happiness of her loved ones.
She had a special connection to nature, whether tending her beautiful garden or sitting on her swing, feeding the birds and chipmunks as she so loved to do. Her green thumb and gentle spirit brought beauty and life wherever she went, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Nancy touched the lives of many through her work, including at Union Hospital, Swampscott High School, and, for the past 17 years, with her Putnam Pantry family. She will be remembered for her warmth, laughter, resilience, and gentle humor. A legacy of love and care that will continue to live on in her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Wallace Comeau; her children, Lisa and Paul, and daughter-in-law Maria Tilkens; her beloved sister, Carol Rogerson, and brother-in-law, Gordon Rogerson, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-grandson. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred D. and Carolyn R. MacKenzie, and her sister, Linda Richards. Family was at the center of Nancy’s life, and she held her loved ones close in her heart.
A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, MA. The wake will be on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with the service on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 185 Lake Street, Peabody, MA
