He was pre-deceased by his wife, Susan of 54 years, who passed just last year at this time.
Paul was born on March 25th, 1942 to Stewart and Bess Garcelon. He was a lifelong resident of Swampscott. After serving in the U. S. Coast Guard for 5 years, he settled in back home on the water. Paul was a commercial lobsterman for his entire life until just a couple years ago. He was a beloved hockey coach in Town for many years. Those who learned the game and so much more from his presence have claimed that he had a part in shaping who they are today.
He was most proud to be known as “Dad” and “Bampy”. He was a protector, a role model, a friend, and a confidant. He was always cheering on his grandchildren in their various endeavors but also made sure to help with the little things like giving a ride, being a chef, being a guardian and simply just being present. He showed unwavering support towards his two children, Karen and Paul Jr. and will be greatly missed every day.
Paul is survived by his son, Paul Garcelon and his wife, Melinda Mogel of Beverly. He also leaves a daughter, Karen Poska of Swampscott, and his four grandchildren, Jack, Thomas, Emma, and Jaqueline.
Friends and family are invited to Visiting Hours in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Monday, June 27th from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. His Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, June 28th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Swampscott Cemetery.
